I'd like to see LOKAR floor shifters
If you’re running a LOKAR floor shifter I'd like to see a Pic of it in the truck. I'd also like to know which length you choose and why and of course how do you like it. Opinions on other floor shifters welcome too.
Thank in advance Steve 1970 CST Short Wide

I think this is a Lokar. Not sure why my customer picked it. I like to see what gear I am in. WES

Re: I'd like to see LOKAR floor shifters
You say Used to, did you remove it ? How well did it shift being 23"
I think I need to find someone with one installed that I can drive. I really like these but dont really want to cut the floor.

Re: I'd like to see LOKAR floor shifters
the lokar is round and has a push button detent built in so you don't knock it in/out of gear by accident. I should have a 16" transmission mounted version sitting at the back door when I get home! one point that*i came across was that the floor mounted models can knock themselves out of gear when you hit harsh bumps and such.

Re: I'd like to see LOKAR floor shifters
Ive been reading about these for the last couple days here.. I'm getting one for sure. From what everyone says, they are just awesome. I am going to get the 23" floor mount with the straight shaft. Very cool hotrod look.

Re: I'd like to see LOKAR floor shifters
I have the Lokar Nostalgia shifter. I'm really pleased with it. I'm sorry but this isn't the best picture. Can't recall if it's the 16" or 23" shifter. I'll try to check and get a better picture soon.

Re: I'd like to see LOKAR floor shifters
i installed a 12''(i think) in my wife's truck in place of a junk shifter a po installed. I had to weld up the giant hole the other left. This is a floor mount and was a super easy install. I have drove with it and does wonderful the wife and i really love it, only thing better is a factory column shift.

Re: I'd like to see LOKAR floor shifters
Mine's the 23". I really like it. There's a board member whose name I forget running the taller one. Looks like it's to the top of the windshield. The 23" has a nice amount of Old truck meets "Rat Fink"-like height without being in the way.

My only thought was that it's just enough in the way to make it harder for a pretty lady to scooch over.

Re: I'd like to see LOKAR floor shifters
Lokar 16" Floor Mount. Been in the truck since 2005 controlling my 700R. I toggle between 3 and OD a lot and I love it. I wouldn't even trade it for a completely rebuilt tilt column. It's just the right height to use as a hand rest too.

Re: I'd like to see LOKAR floor shifters
Lokar 'nostalgia' on top of a 700R4. I like it a lot. Was close to putting the 'extreme' on, but this has really grown on me...

Re: I'd like to see LOKAR floor shifters
Classic Heartbeat - Lokar has shift indicators available. I have a boot mount on mine, but it's a bit of a pain to see. I have a dash mount on order, which should be a 10 minute hookup.

Re: I'd like to see LOKAR floor shifters
Yes, I removed it to install a column shifter for a cleaner look. For the most part, I really kinda miss it, though. It had a nice detent that really helped in selecting gears during "hard driving". I got the 23" because I was unsure of the actual height when I ordered it. I think the 16" shifter is perfect for an all around nice look.

Re: I'd like to see LOKAR floor shifters
Well my shifter FINALLY arrived yesterday. I immediately drove to the shop and got it installed! In my rush of excitement to get the old pos Mr. gasket auto zone special out of there I forgot to take pictures but I'll snap some for you when I get back out there this weekend. I will say install was a breeze and it is made like it came factory. No loose parts or questioning on what gear you're in. It's well worth the money! And 16" is perfect for a stock truck feel. Not too tall and not too short.

Re: I'd like to see LOKAR floor shifters
the one I ripped out and threw in the trash was a floor mount. it flexed the sheet metal floor. I've also read about them getting knocked out of gear if you hit hard bumps since the motor/trans can move around while the shifter is stationary with the cab. The trans mounted one like I got is SOLID. the only flaw I can see is that you may get some movement as the motor twists slightly in the mounts but I think it'll be kinda cool. Personal preference really. the tunnel could be strengthened to take out the flex that I was getting butt you still have the other possibility and you're still going to have to cut a hole so why not mount it to the trans...

Re: I'd like to see LOKAR floor shifters
I have over 30,000 miles w/ my floor mount. No floor flex and never been knocked out of gear.

Re: I'd like to see LOKAR floor shifters
it was a breeze. took maybe an hour taking my time. just have the proper size Allen wrench, a 1/2" and a 9/16" wrench handy and you'll be golden.
