i dont believe in cutting up the dash. With the off set it was easier to build a console.

Me personally, if I had the money, I would buy a coverup panel for the dash to cover the ugly stereo hole, and install a set of bucket seats with a flipdown center console, then install the stereo in the center console hidden from sight. Looks clean, and is safer, no one except people who have heard your truck booming will know you have a big system.
I've also got an 80, I love the front clips on our trucks

Mine looks just like 87silvy's and it was pretty easy to cut the hole.
Just remember to use a back-strap on the cd unit so it won't skip. |

Hey guys.... instead of using strap, I just get a HD coat hanger & wrap one end around the bolt/screw for the back of the head unit & then cut it to length (leaving enough material to wrap around the bolt/screw wherever a suitable bolt hole is located on the body).

The mounting pod attaches with the stock ashtray screws in the bottom part of the dash, no holes drilled, nothing cut out. I used a radio delete plate (bought from forum member fast71, excellent transaction) to cover the hole Marck |

They're leather reupholstered. They were the seats that were in the truck, something from Custom Truck Of Texas. It's a 40-20-40 bench with a console on the back of the folding middle seat. There was a topic about it in the pics section but you can see it all here:

I dont really like the idea of cutting up my dash. I am planning on building a console for my truck. The only problem is I have to keep the bench seat because of the size of my family. I also cant put one on the floor because of the 4X4 shifter. I have been tossing around the idea of building a console on the roof of the truck that goes from above the mirroe to the dome light. I am thinking of putting a CD player and a CB in it. Does anyone have a different idea that might help me out? Thanks in advance.
