i have 1982 chevy c10 with 4.1 engine my transmission TH350 was cracked and made all the oil fall out,
i went to junk yard and found a TH350 1977 chevy c10 i installed it and fit with no problems,

now it my truck sound rough and wont move at all,

my guess is that the trans doesnt work?

Re: transmission change,,,,

or maybe the torque converter was not installed correctly because i first screwed on the torque converter to the flywheel and then i installed the trans witch was not easy to mount the trans to the converter,

...gasp!!...

No - that's not good.

Torque convertor has to slip over the input shaft of the trans first, engaging the pump lugs.

Then the whole assembly gets mounted to the engine block.

Convertor bolts to flywheel after that.

Make sure the convertor is all the way on as well. It should be hard to get your fingers behind it.

Yah - I didn't want to be "Debbie Downer" but this could be very "not good". Not sure what happens to the seals, either, during the installation process.

At any rate, that trans has to either come back out or, at a minimum, be slid rearward to allow the convertor to be put on the input splines and engage the pump drive.

Then - if he's lucky - he didn't wreck anything and it will still work.

But it may be too late.

Mexlokote - said differently, when the convertor is all the way on and the trans bolted to the engine: the convertor should spin freely and there should be a slight gap (maybe 3/8 or 1/2 inch) between the convertor and the flywheel).

It should not be bound up tight.

I think you will be carting the torque converter and tranny back to the junk youd. Metal don't squeeze.
