Should I repair this or replace? The day I got the truck the PO was gassing up to come meet and someone backed into it, and drove off. Ive banged most of the dent out and its kinda hard to see everything. What do you guys think?

Re: Repair or Replace?
1/4 inch of bondo or less has always been my golden rule.

Re: Repair or Replace?
i would say how much money do you want to spend, and how good are you with body and paint..by what i can see in the pic. it looks like you almost have it. put a little filler in and paint it. is it a daily driver or a show truck...

Re: Repair or Replace?
Did you try to shrink the metal at all or just pound it flat?

Re: Repair or Replace?
To add to Tim's comment, any time metal gets stretched it has to be shrunk or you will always have a high spot. This can be done with the correct tools and technique.
If you work on it, you can get it to where you need no filler at all. It depends on how much time you want to invest. When I do use filler, I do not go over 1/8 in thickness. As others have stated, you also need to consider what you are using the truck for, show or driver. |

Re: Repair or Replace?
Right now its just my dd to school and whatever else i do. I have plans of gettin it restored later in life. And all i did was remove the fender and pound it flat then i tried to give it a little form so i dont do alot of bondo. I hate usin bondo but dont have the $ to get alot for the truck right now. My first truck was practically made of bondo. Hahaha

Re: Repair or Replace?
Since you seem to be in a hurry. If you have a friend with a torch that knows how to shrink metal, have him try and reduce as much of that as he can. If the rest of the fender is really clean and unrusted run it by a bodyshop and see if they will shrink it back for you and how much. At this point it looks to me like it will take heat and practiced dolly work to make it right.
