Michelin LTX MS2's on a 4x4 SWB?

I am picking up my '86 Custom Deluxe daily driver today and I knew I'd need atleast two new tires for it, but the more I think about it the more I think I'd like to put something less aggressive on it because I'll be doing a partial interstate commute daily with this truck and not much mudding at all (if any). My concern is I simply don't know how the tires would look on the truck if I went with the Michelins. I can't recall ever seeing a 4x4 square-body with something other than all-terrains or mudders. Should/could I go up a size in the Michelins so that they fill out the fender wells a little better? I'm not good at gauging tire sizes and picturing stuff in my mind. Anyone have any advice? Pictures for examples?

They came stock with fairly tame Uniroyal Laredos. The MTX MS2's will look fine.

Remember, taller and skinnier yield the best mileage and tread wear. My picks: the M/S-2s or A/T-2s, Toyo Open Country A/T-IIs or H/Ts, Cooper A/T3 or H/T.

i second the rugged terrains by BFG. Excellent tires for runaround trucks. I have had them on 2 body style nissan fronteirs, a jeep liberty, and now on my 89 square and really like them. They look aggresive but are pretty much an on road tire. I think they are 60k tread life rated.

I have MS2's on the wifes Tahoe and love them... however I would go with an All Terrain tire on the square body.

I don't disagree with you, I'm just trying to consider MPG and stuff. I know tires won't be a miracle treatment for that by any means, just don't want to waste money on something too knobby just for the interstate to chew 'em up.

I have Michelin AT2's on my dailly driver Nissan Titan. They have been great. I probably have 70,000 miles on them and they still have plenty of tread. I think they are load range E so they are a bit overkill for the truck.

I got some pretty mild Firestone AT's for my square in a 31x10.50.

I personally would be more concerned with the load range rating and whether you plan to do any towing.

The BFG's are only a "C" load range, something I would't do alot of "heavy" towing with.

You can't go wrong with a set of Michelins. Always more money than most anything else out there, but it's an excellent tire with excellent wear, and most of them are an "E" load range 10 ply tire, so you are paying for that as well. I've also noticed they balance easier, and run quieter. Most of them I've run will go 70,000 miles or more and still look like they have another 20,000 in them. I generally only get about 40,000 miles out of a set of BFG's, so even though they are cheaper, I'm buying them more often.

Just some things to consider...
