Question Will Stock Steel Wheels Rub?

I was curious... I have a 5" drop in the front (3"spindle and cut coils) and I know that my 15x8 rally wheels rub my LCA and I know I can trim them.. and from what I have read the 15x7's don't rub, but I can't find any here in town and don't want to spend a ton of money on new bigger rims either....

I was wondering if anyone knew the back spacing on a regular plain steel 15 inch rim? And or if they would rub the lower control arm? I was thinking of just running stock rims with hub caps so was just curious and any info would be great thanks!

I have what I think are 8" steelies and they only rub on a lock to lock turn...only because I have not taken the edge off of the lower control arm..I Probably won't anytime soon ...lol

No, stock skinny hubcap wheels will not rub. Just today I put a set of DJM 3 inch drop spindles and cut coils under my project truck. It clears from full lock to lock by a good bit with no grinding needed whatsoever.

I'm 99.99% sure that they DO rub. John (Jknight) has 15x7 rallies, maybe even 15x6 and his rubbed when he put a 2.5 spindle and cut a coil. They rubbed at lock to lock. I cut the lip on his LCA. What I'm not real sure about is the width of the tire. I can't remember if they're 7s or 6s.

don't suppose you woild have pics of the stock skinnies????

I put a set of 15x7 rallies off of an 88 nbs onto my 76 with 3" spindles and cut springs, also no rub issue... but could not fit 15x8 rallies

This is before I cut the frame, lowered it and stuff. Just stock 15x6 steel hubcap wheels.

Stock 6.5in and 8in rallys have 4.25in backspace and do rub with drop spindles. Im not sure what the bs is on 6in steelies but if its 4in or less, the less likely they will rub or need to trim the lca for clearance.
