Does anyone have any experience with Headman headers?

Im looking into replacing the leaky headers on my truck (not leaky at the head, but at the warped collector flange). I found a set on summitracing that says it fits my 72 cheyenne application and also has the ball flanges. Do these seem like a good purchase?

My main concern is if I will have to knock dents in them to clear the frame (like I did the old ones).

previos owner put cheapy ones on my truck. the ball and socket joint is cool. they have some cracks but im going to bring the truck up a little so i dont crap driving over a ladybug

Have some Headman elites on mine. I had to bend some brake lines out of the way, but other than that no problem. The ball and socket joint is really cool.

Hedman elites on mine as well, only mod was to the ac compressor bracket cause I have the short compressor. Great plug access and easy to get to bolts. This is my second go around with hedman and happy both times.

I have been pleased with mine. The ball and socket collectors seem to work well, and I've had my K20 flexed up enough offroad to test them. Seems like a good design.

I will say though, that to get the #3 plug in/out I had to get a specialty socket that let me use a box-end wrench.

Did you notice much of a difference putting those on your 87? I too have an 87 5.7L and I was thinking of getting headers. Just didn't know if they even make much difference.

I too have heddman elites on my truck, no mods and the ball and socket work a lot better than gaskets

I've had a set on my for years and I've liked them. Wish at the time I could have had them jet hot coated though. This was long before it was available, but I like mine and no real problems. They're long tube. I can remove the starter and no clearance or heat problems.

I'd like to know what the best, inexpensive headers are. You can pay outlandish amounts of money for headers. Or, you can pay very little.

I have a set of the Elite, and just mho, if you plan to drive it as a daily driver, whatever you get make sure you get something with a 3/8" flange.

Headman now has a nice mid length header in two tube sizes and the ball connector . I'll be getting a set for my 77' .

I've had a set of Hedman's on a 1994 K2500 since 1995, We're putting in a new crate motor @ 270,000 miles, but the old Hedman's are going back on.

ive have installed several sets and i am very pleased with the quality vs the price.. even a few small clearance dents wont cost any noticeable power loss. best way is to heat red with the torch and use a ball peen hammer and patiently tap away. hedmans almost come with paper gaskets.. do your self a favor and buy some metallic ones or if you want the ultimate buy copper. a heat sheild around the starter is easy to do and is worth the insurance policy imo. As far as flanges go ball and socket is very nice and they do not leak, every set of hedmans i have bought with traditional 3 bolt flanges had 1/4 inch flanges, if you do end up with a set of these 3 bolt flat flanges do yourself favor and replace both sides with 3/8" flanges... they are much less likely to warp and leak and i have had some very succesful seals with 3/8 flat flanges i have installed in the past. again stay away from paper gaskets.

on the flip side you could run your existing headers and buy new flanges and weld them on.
