GQ1 - open diff
G80 - Posi

Hope that helps, stolen from some S10 forum. I am doing the same research for my project.
I'm in general agreement with everything so far, except for one minor correction:

GQ1 is base axle for the powertrain combination, not open diff. Base axle ratios vary depending on engine, trans, GVW, etc, GQ1 references the base/standard ratio for that particular combination.

Posi/locking vs open is noted by the presence or absence of RPO G80.
