60-66 Panel vans - What sizes were built ??

Question is in the title.

I have not been looking at vans to date, as I had a very specific brief from my wife.....

However, I was wondering, what is the shortest Van or Suburban that was built from the factory from 60-66 ?

If you know how they compare to Short bed Fleetsides for length, then please do add your info and photos.

Have some random inspirational pics lifted from this forums builds.....

This looks like LOOOONG panel to me.

Medium ?

Please post up pics with description of what it is if you do not mind.

This might be better suited in the Suburban forum. I can't help much with the lengths but I do there were Suburbans, Panels and Carryall's. Suburbans had windows, Panels didn't and Carryalls???

Re: 60-66 Panel vans - What sizes were built ??

The panels basically came in 2 lengths. Standard and Extended.

above from Bemus you have the standard. It is basically the same as the burbs without windows.

Here is an extended (same as the two you posted next to the shipping container)

The extended has a 10' bed. Bumper to bumper on mine (without the actual bumpers) is 20'2''. If I had bumpers I estimate it would be between 20.5 and 21 feet in length.

On your post, the red cross, blue on the trailer, and the black are all standard length. The two next to the shipping container are both extended. and that looks to be a 48' shipping container.

Edit: I know its hard to tell but that covered car next to mine is a 66 mustang. our front bumpers are about even. and you can see, it just gets to the rear wheels on my panel. It is most definitely a beast

Here is an interior look.

Suburbans and short panels were 1/2-ton.
The long ones are 1-ton, and panel only unless they were a special build at the time.

The standard 1/2 ton Suburbans and Panels are the same wheelbase as a shortbed pickup, which is 115". What most of us call the Suburbans were commonly called Carryalls back in the day. The Suburbans and Panels were only made with 2 doors from the factory.

Re: 60-66 Panel vans - What sizes were built ??

Just got up here in England.

Thank you all for the replies.

If the Standard/Short panels are the same length as the Short trucks then I am real pleased.
I suspect that there are not too many of them out there for sale though.

The thought of being greedy and owning one of each did cross my mind.

I do like the look of that white van.

The G series started in 64.

This series Panel Trucks were produced from 1960-66.
