Custom back spacing

What would be the optimal backspacing for 18x8 front and 18x10 wheels on a 72 with the wide rear? Assuming the truck is 4/6 dropped with ECE Kit.

I am curious if anyone would deviate from the normal acceptable off the shelf specs if a totally custom backspace is allowed.

I am looking at the American Racing VN327 Rally wheels.

Any help or info is greatly appreciated. I also hope these would work with McGauphy Big Breaks front and rear (13 inch rotors).

Re: Custom back spacing

I have come up with a 4 inch backspace for the front 18x8's and 5.25 inch backspace for the rear 18x10's. If anyone has any other recommendations, I would certainly like your imput and/or pictures.

Re: Custom back spacing

I like 5" bs on a 18x8 up front.
5.5" bs on a 18x10 with the wider 71-72 rearend.
But that's what I like.

Remember a 8" wheel will measure 9".
10" wheel will measure 11".

Re: Custom back spacing

It all depends on how you want the wheels to fit on the truck. I would say a 4.75" up front, and 5.5" on the rear... But all personal preference. The McGaughys brakes don't have a lot of caliper offset, so you will be Ok there.

We are an American Racing dealer, so let me know if we can help you out further.

Re: Custom back spacing

It is the original rearend im assuming i believe its diff with the 67-68 rearends, they are narrower in width so im thinking 5 inch backspacing for the rear.

Re: Custom back spacing

IF it's the original rear end, the wider 71-72, then I would run the 5.5" in the rear.

Re: Custom back spacing

lolife99 would you happen to have pics of a 67 fleet 20x10 with 5x5 backspacing, and a 72 fleet 20x10 with 5x5.5
