tachometer size and dash bulbs

I want to put a tachometer in the small hole where the clock would be. Which do you guys recomend? 2 5/8 gauge or 2 1/16 ( truck is an 86). Also want to change out the bulbs behind the gaug es. Can anyone recomend l.e.d.'s for this?

I too would like to do the exact same thing and wanted to know the sizing also. Great minds think alike, and mine is an 86 also.
Hopefully someone knows the sizing. I am thinking it might be tough to find a small tach though, hopefully not.

I want to find a small fuel gauge and put that where a clock would go and then get a big tach and put it where the fuel gauge currently is.

Re: tachometer size and dash bulbs

I just got my new LMC cat and they show a OE type tach with new circuit aboard for $129.00. I'm fixin to order one for my 84. Just not sure if I need new lens also. Y ou also have to order the wiring harness for 29.95.

Re: tachometer size and dash bulbs

I put in an Auto Gauge tach in the lower left. I just don't recall the size off hand. I did it several years ago and then just re-did it when I converted my speedo from cable to electric.

I think I may eventually try and find a factory large tach and small fuel to look more "stock"....
