Help with Steering on 67 K10

I just added a 4" SkyJacker lift to my 67K10 shortbed and have found I now have clearance problems with my steering. Anyone run into this problem and what did you do to resolve it.

Thanks,

Heath

Need to know in more detail what kind of problems you are referring to. Pictures of the problem would also be helpful. BTW, nice looking truck!

It looks like you may have clearance problems with your garage door also And your truck looks great, how about some more pics.

On your steering problem are you using the original closed knuckle front or has it been switched for an open knuckle?

Yes, more description of the problem would help and Yes, very nice truck. You're making my truck look bad

To cure any and all problems I would have had with my steering and an 8" lift, I installed a later model P/S box and did away with the steering arm all together. If you need any info on a crossover steering setup, just hauler. I'll help anyway I can. Like Blazerman said, are you running the original closed knuckle front end or do you have a later model front axle under that beast?

I am not certain what year truck the power steering came out of, but the arm coming off the power steering unit is running into the springs when I crank it to the left. Other than the donor power steering everything else is original. I will get pictures before the end of the week to show you where my difficulties lay.

I tried to get some pictures, but I can't make them fit. I have some pictures posted here http://myoldtruck.com/forums/showthr...=&threadid=809 for thosre who wanted to see more photos.

Heath, I saw your other pics on the "myoldtruck" forum and I gotta say.............. Damn nice truck son! I think I need to park my truck with a truck like yours on the road.

After searching the pics, I still can't tell what front end you have under it and I'm kinda lost when you say your pitman arm is hitting the front spring. Could you get a pic of the clearance problem and post it back here or on the other forum? Or even email me the pic ( pont1@rvi.net ) and I'll resize it and post it here for others to see. I just can't imagine your pitman arm hitting the spring, pics would be nice.

Again, nice truck man, you should be proud!

Rob

Where you at in Missouri? I'm betting the arm on the box you got is wrong or something. Never heard of anyone having a problem like that.

Ok guys, I got some pictures here, so hopefully I can explain. I posted them on my own website so I didn’t have to bother with the file size. Here is Link to my pictures . The arm that cam off of the power steering had an adjustable arm on it that connected with another arm, which turns the wheels. (What are these items called?) The arm that came off the power steering unit was hitting the new springs when I cranked the wheel to the left. We are in the process of playing with the slack that is in the adjustable arm to clear the spring.

Can you guys educate me here and possibly provide me with the fix for my problems? Thanks!

Here is a pic of the 1978 power steering box attached on my 1969 K20. You can also see the adjustable drag link from Skyjacker installed. No clearance problems for me. Hope these pics help.
