350 V8 fitment in 49 C3100
I,m currentlu placing a 350 in a 49 C3100 and it appears that if I give enough room to clear the distributor (Pertronix HEI) the radiator will not fit. I would rather use the thermal clutch but will use electric if I must. I guess I could cut the large firewall recess and make it deeper. I have seen so many 350's in these trucks and just wanted to get some help before I start cutting. Just for reference, my harmonic balancer is just above the old front engine mount holes and I have a long water pump. Any pictures would really help!
Thanks! |

You might want to use Speedway's High Rise water pump it will center the fan and may shorten the overall length of the engine.

There should be plenty of room for a radiator and distributor with a stock firewall, but not an clutch fan. I ran a straight fan for a while, but a lot of the blade is below the radiator. I ended up using an electric fan due to low speed cooling problems.
