Bumper brackets
Will factory rear bumper brackets from a step bumper work with a sport bumper? 1977 c10 fleet side truck.

Re: Bumper brackets
No, they're completely different brackets.
The inner brackets for the factory step bumpers bolt to braces welded to the inside of the bumper. While the sport bumper brackets bolt through the face of the bumper with stainless capped bolts. Not all factory step bumpers used outer corner brackets, but the ones that did have longer brackets since the face of the step bumper sets farther back away from the truck. And they're shaped different at the bumper end since the face of the step bumper is pretty much flat instead of contoured like the sport bumper. |

Re: Bumper brackets
67-72 brackets.
You need 73-80 specific brackets. There is a set on the board for sale right now. VERY hard to find.

Re: Bumper brackets
So, I have a "friend" who bought the set of bumper brackets in my picture above and the seller told him they would fit a 73-87 with a sport bumper. Guess my "friend" got ripped off, huh? I have told him over and over again to do his homework before buying stuff but he just will not listen.

Re: Bumper brackets
Did some more research on the brackets. One of them has the number 6274027 and the other has 6274028. After looking at them on Google, I have come to the conclusion that they fit an 81 and up stepside. The search continues...

Re: Bumper brackets
I need stepside bumper brackets if your friend wants to get rid of them.
