Re: Newb to forum w/ 82 gmc C1500

So I'm guessing if the plug is black and reeks of gasoline it's probably fouled?

Will be replacing the plugs today. Any brand/material preferences you guys have?

Am I checking that the rotor is pointing to 1?

Yep..... And having been in the auto biz, I've seen many fouled plugs prevent a engine from starting..... AC R45TS is the most common used.

Fixed!

So, super newb mistake, the choke on my carb was stuck closed. I had no idea what I was looking for so I didn't know. lol. Had a friend, who is the Chevrolet wizard, fix it, and fix my timing. Runs like a champ.

Pics tomorrow.

Re: Newb to forum w/ 82 gmc C1500

Got it out on the road and ran it a little bit today. Seems like it's running a little warm and when I shift into 3rd and get on it it spits once and then goes. Same way every time. I'm guessing I need to tune my carb a little more?

Edit - The warmth idk.

Re: Newb to forum w/ 82 gmc C1500

As soon as I fix the flat I just got... Grrr.

So my truck came with Hooker headers but they're pinched on the driver's side, probably from the same bottom out that broke the front drive shaft, and I'm not real thrilled about the fitment. Thinking about going back to stock headers.

What do yall think about the stock headers vs. aftermarket?

Re: Newb to forum w/ 82 gmc C1500

Additional question to whom it may concern - When I bought the truck the previous owner told me he had not checked the second fuel tank and didn't know if it leaked. I took that to mean he knew it was leaking. How do I check if it's leaking other than just putting gas in it?
