go to your local hardware store or your local auto parts store.

Take the spring with you and tell them that you need one.

Same thing happened to mine, luckily I found some in a junk yard. I suppose you could make one from some really thin music wire from a craft store. Just anneal it and bend around a makeshift mandrel, then re-harden by very carefully heating it cherry red, and quench in warm water.

ChevyDude, you're referring to the small spring that is unique to the 71 and 72 trucks on the pedal itself right? Not the throttle return spring.

I am refering to the little spring that holds the accelerator pedal upright. A little pin goes through the spring and the pedal and then this little spring wraps onto the post that the pedal is attached to.

Napa usually has a good selection of odds and ends like that, or try a hardware store.

THAT IS NOT AN ORDINARY SPRING THAT YOU CAN PICK UP AT ANY HARDWARE OR OUTO PARTS STORE. (AS IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT ALREADY) IT'S CALLED A PEDAL RETURN SPRING. I HAVE AN LMC CATALOG HERE HANDY & IT'S PT.#30-3194 & IT'S $2.55 . I'M SURE ALL THE VENDERS HAVE EM. THEY'RE ON 71 & 72s. JOHN

Heck, I'd use a bungie cord if that is what it takes to get down the road. I really didn't know that those springs were reproduced, but thanks to a board member, several of us learn something new

A big Thanks goes out to JunkYardJohn!!! He directed me to LMC Truck parts who did have it for $4.99 + $6.00 shipping.... but then I called GMC Paul's who told me to try my local Chevy dealer.....and wah da ya know.... Part # 368077 known as Accelerator Tension Spring was in stock and ready for me to pick up for $4.11 + tax or $4.43 out the door. I went and got it and she's in the truck now!!! Don't worry if the dealer tells you that part #368077 is for an 82' Vette, it is, but it was originally used on 71's and 72 C-10's and K-10's. Thanks again!!!

So next time before you blow a fuse and ask where to get one you will call the dealerships parts counter first. A lesson learned.

I hope you are not implying I was blowing a fuse??? I never would have guessed the dealers would have this and simply asked the board if anyone knew where to find one.

Now everyone knows.

no bugs here

Actually the hardware store or the auto parts store would have had a spring that would work just fine.

Go eat some mash potatos and take a PROZAC junkyardjohn
Your always right------------ GOOD FOR YOU
Get yourself a screw driver and pop the caps lock button of your keyboard.

That is indeed the spring. I've got to go to get anti-freeze from the Auto Zone..... I will ask if they carry such a spring...just for grins.
Thanks for posting the pic!
