Re: TF door window install vid

The timing for me finding this couldn't be better! I'm about to do this very thing in the next few weeks. Now, if I could only find much the same kind of tutorial for rebuilding the vent window and installing the window glass in the frame!

Re: TF door window install vid

Dan it's pretty easy,, the only problem I had with mine was the actual replacement window was smaller than the original,, I had to move the lower pin of the window just to get the window to seal against the rubber seal.. hope this helps..

Sometimes I wish I had gone with the stock windows, but I'm ok with the solid glass conversion. I could feel the guys frustration on some parts, but he did good! Thanks for posting!!

Re: TF door window install vid

I came THIS close to buying chrome vent window & side window frames today. I really want them. But then I told myself, "Why do you need chrome right now? The truck is in rattle can paint for God's sake!"

The only answer is because I like flash. But I have plenty of other needs for the same $100. I've ALREADY got the vent window rebuild kits, the window channel felt and anti-rattle strips. I've just got to wade in, clean my door interiors out, wire wheel & rust treat them. Then follow this video. Gloss or semi gloss black painted window frames will be fine...they will....they will....I keep repeating!!!

Re: TF door window install vid

Dan, what is the price difference between chrome and painted? Is it that great a difference especially for something that you really want? Will you have chrome headlight bezels, chrome bumper and grill? If painted, then perhaps painted would be the way to go, but if chrome, then chrome framed windows would be in order.

Will you have this truck for any length of time? Will it be in the garage whereas your daily drivers will be outside(like mine)? Don't get a guilt trip, you don't want regrets later over could-ofs and should haves. Make your decisions now for what you want, desire. This truck is a reflection of you; )

Re: TF door window install vid

Dan, Id see if anyone has experience with the chrome window frames, After 6 months sitting in a carport, my brand new chrome door handles are pitting and the push button locks in the handles have rust... Reproduction Chrome is something to be careful with...

Again, this is in a carport. Exposed to elements but its not like rain is pounding on these parts...

Hopefully the vent frames are built a little better than my door handles...

DOH! YOU EVIL TEMPTRESS!!

You realize you're saying the act same thing the little man in the red devil suit is saying who's sitting on my shoulder?

Yeah, chrome IS a lot more than just reusing my fugly semi- painted, mostly-rusty window & vent frames. And of course I'm dying to talk myself into this (as I'm headed over to buy a used but brand new condition chrome front bumper.

DOH!

Re: TF door window install vid

Wow very cool video. I just went through this with both of my doors and I had the exact same issues, i even had the issue of doors from different years to deal with that had different size holes for the window seal things. THanks alot for sharing, it was good to see other people having the same issues I have.

hehe~ I knew you'd react this way~ Don't feel bad, I'm in the same boat as you and tormented by should I or shouldn't I! We are faced with decisions that eat at our wallets (or purses) and our conscience and leaving us with a guitly feeling of "I shouldn't have"! lol Dan, no matter what you do, it will look great, painted or other! so you really can't go wrong! Now, do I go witih the expensive exhaust or the cheaper exhaust! see what I mean!
