Re: Good deal?57 panel

that seems fair for a NAPCO if it is all correct and in the shape you say it is. What size are the rims? They look to be either 17.5 or 19.5....NAPCO trucks had an option for a larger rim. If they are a larger size and still with the truck then the rest is probably stock.

Re: Good deal?57 panel

That price probably isn't far off for what looks like a pretty well unmolested NAPCO conversion 57 Panel. I'd think it had a bit of history behind it too.

i like those panels, I had a 57 with a really stout souped to the gills 327 in it in the mid 70's. It was the quickest vehicle I've ever owned for the 1/8 mile. I wasn't brave enough to really open it up on top end.

Thanks for the input, the truck was at one time was a fire dept unit ,then it was used by a scuba team, supposedly restored at one time ,but all i can see is a paint job at one time long ago.im gonna check it out a little better saturday and throw my 66 up for sale [dont mention that on the 60 66 board though]and make an offer after inspection.Ive always admired these and the 4x4 is a bonus.

Re: Good deal?57 panel

Bonus, its a GMC. Better bonus, owned by a fire department. Those guys are anal about taking care of their trucks and it spent most of its life indoors. Probably relatively low miles too. Since its a GMC you might get lucky and find out the FD ordered it with a 292 or 302 engine. Buy it, polish up the paint (that old enamel comes back pretty good), add some period FD emblems, etc. and have fun with it.

Re: Good deal?57 panel

Every truck need a theme.
I bought a '98 Tahoe that was the fire chiefs unit of the Guadalupe, CA. F.D. I was 4 years old and only had 20k miles on it.
So I went with the F.D. theme.

Re: Good deal?57 panel

any rust free vehicle in the rust belt is worth that
a fire truck is usually low miles to boot
