considering a drag truck project, got questions

considering either a 73-87 short bed or 88-99 short bed. Any pros or cons to either body style? Ive had plenty of square body street trucks and a couple c/k body daily drivers. What does a gutted short bed fleet weight with a bbc?

It will be full race only, gutted of everything it doesnt need, will keep the leaf springs but probably go the cal tracs route. Currently building a 498 that should be in the 600-650hp range.

81-87 were built lighter than the 73-80's... Please do a square!

If your gonna tube-frame a straight drag-truck, I don't think it really matters
They make plenty of fiberglass replacements for those square's tho.

Will be using the stock frame and suspension. will use lexan for the windows and will use a fiberglass front end if I can get one cheap enough.
