Trouble deciding manifolds...

Hey guys! I recently picked up ANOTHER LQ9 for my trucks build but the purchase of this engine is throwing another bone into play... It came with the GMPP 4 barrel manifold. I already have an LS2 manifold sitting in my garage that I had slated for this build.

I kinda like the look of the 4 barrel mani, but ive heard that they kinda hurt the low end power, but Im curious if it would hurt it that significantly?

Any thoughts?

Here is a pic of my recent purchase

Re: Trouble deciding manifolds...

almost looks like a low dual plane. I'm guessing thats a single plane intake? If so yes....it will hurt the low end a bit but make it up on the high end.

my old GMPP LSX/LS3 dual plane:

Re: Trouble deciding manifolds...

How was the drivability with your dual plane?

Re: Trouble deciding manifolds...

it was great....I should have kept it! the things we'll do for parts money!
Had gotten HP Street 750 Holley and was good off line...installed a Holley 650 and it was great, even snappy!

went from carb'd to efi....still working out the hiccups... but close.

Re: Trouble deciding manifolds...

So, you would recommend it? I think I might just do it!

Re: Trouble deciding manifolds...

Yes I would. Has room for porting too if you like. It is a genIV intake tho....so you have to be running the rectangular port L92/LS3 heads.

Re: Trouble deciding manifolds...

You've probably already noticed this...but many of us that went LSx carb'd eventually swap back over to efi. May be a daily driver grind kind of a thing. Or mpg. Personally, I can recommend carb'd LSx for both race duty and the occasional weekend driver.

In many ways I wish mine was still carb'd.

Re: Trouble deciding manifolds...

I still plan on doing EFI with this manifold. There are the EFI systems that are in a carb like package
