engine decoding

I have a number on my block (t0218jq) and (19j217889) can anyone tell me what engine size I have a?I've been wondering if I have a 396 or 454

I am new to the forum so forgive me if there's a place to find that information out

Tonawonda built on Feb. 18,1969 396/265hp (gross) auto. trans., full size Chevrolet car application.
It is not original to your truck.

thanks for the info! i knew it wasn't original with the truck, but wasnt' sure if it was 396 or 454. too bad its not a 427!

it has a 4 bbl on it now, am i reading correctly on wiki that this was a 2bbl app?

That's correct! Came with a 2 bbl. I had one. Came out of a Pontiac Laurentian. Canadian pontiac's had chevy motors.

that's nice to know! i have not had the truck very long

do you think the holly that came with the truck on my stock motor is too much? I think the holly on it is a 750 cfm

looking for opinions out there, if you had this app, would you put a stock 2bbl back on it? i use it for a driver and tow a small boat at times

750 will be great.
Look on the choke horn on the carb. There will be a LIST#____. THat will tell you how big it is.
