Gearz "Build a Short Bed - Episode 2"

Saw the Part 2 Gearz episode last night where the new shortbed box was built from all-new LMC parts & wood. Part 1 was the longbed teardown & frame cutting-down that was discussed in a thread a couple weeks ago.

Stacy David must have said about a half-dozen times (or more) something to the effect of: "Don't expect all these repro parts to fit without having to do some tweaking / modification / opening up bolt holes," etc, etc. Forewarned is forearmed, I guess.

Looks really-really fast & easy to do on a 30 minute TV episode...........

He also said the two episodes will be posted on the LMC website, if you missed them. Didn't verify if they were up yet.

He's right though, it does take a lot of time to properly fit panels.

Re: Gearz "Build a Short Bed - Episode 2"

It is time consuming for sure. When I did mine, the guys were giving me all kinds of grief regarding the amount of time it was taking.

Lot's of this...

Then this...

And more of this...

Must've had it assembled then apart a half dozen times before everything was good to go.

Wait... are you the custom classic trucks guy that just cut down your longbed, the one you've been doing all the tech articles on?

Re: Gearz "Build a Short Bed - Episode 2"

Hours? A couple days given drying times, etc, all my own time mind you so no crazy shop rates.

Money? I don't like to think about it, but it's what I want and how I wanted it and that's all that matters to me! lol

Re: Gearz "Build a Short Bed - Episode 2"

There are drawbacks to everything ya know but oh the things we could do with a tech center of our own.

Good night Gracie
