Help diagnosing electrical problem?
Truck has been back on the road for a few weeks. Basically everything is new - motor, trans, complete wiring harness, starter, alternator, battery, etc. Swapped in a used automatic column with tilt, to replace the old column I had when I had the manual trans...
Go to start it yesterday, and nothing. Not even a blip from the starter. Try it again, and it fires right up. I am in a hurry for work, so I don't let it warm up as long as I should. Make it to the end of the street, and it dies. Go to restart, and nothing again. Dead as a doornail. Headlights work, but nothing that is "switched" power works. Won't start in Park or Neutral. Nothing at all. Get my wife to steer as I push it back into the driveway, and as I hit the end of the driveway it magically springs back to life. Power returns to AC. She hits the key and it fires right up! I have checked all wires and cables, and everything is tight. I am thinking that the ignition switch in my used, eBay-special tilt column is going bad. Sound like a reasonable thought?

Years ago in my cutlass I had a similar situation but with no restart. It end up being a bad starter solenoid or a burnt wire at the solenoid. I can't remember which.

could be a bad or misadjusted ignition switch. If you replace it, use a Delco part.

i had a 86 Grand Prix that wouldn't start sometimes, finally fixed it but had to turn the colum back from around the dash area
NSS switch was outa wack

You might want to check the switch on your clutch
