Lowering rear end

I tried a search and it gave me that fatal error message. so it's a quick question. How much do I have to lower the rear end to level it with stock front springs?

Re: Lowering rear end

2" to level stock rear to stock front. Are you coil or leaf spring?

Re: Lowering rear end

Leafs here, I'll let the spring guys chime in but it should be as simple as putting 2" drop springs or some 2" lowering blocks to level her out.

Re: Lowering rear end

sKnNyPpY you are correct 2" lowering springs can do it as well as 2" lowering blocks I'm not sure how much 2" lowering springs are but to do 2" lowering blocks they can be done on the cheap I did mine for about $20 but had the square tubing laying around. Tx Firefighter did a good write up on how to make your own lowering blocks and did his for around $25 here is the link http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=196457

Re: Lowering rear end

Don't take this wrong, but its kind of a vague question being asked here.

Assuming all brand new stuff, yes a 2 inch rear drop will basically level a truck.

But, the original poster needs to evaluate his own truck the answer the question himself. If he has original springs and adds two inch drop springs, he might net zero rear drop since his current springs are likely sagged at least two inches already. But, if he adds two inch blocks to his current setup, its guaranteed to give him a further two inch drop.

The correct answer is, go look and measure your truck and determine what it needs.

Pull it out somewhere that allows you to walk away from it and sit there and stare at it awhile. Does it look butt high already or is it nearly level right now ?

I like to think I get my truck's stances right on the money when I build one. I do that by parking them in front of my shop and doing a lot of staring at them from all angles to decide if I've got it right or not.
