Sketch of what I am thinking of doing to my truck.....

I took a pic of my truck the way it is now. Then put it on the computer and chopped the top, lowered it, removed fenders and hood. Dont mind the ford flathead engine its the only sideways pic of an engine I could find quickly. Any thoughts???

I wouldn't add a bunch of junk to it.In the pic i posted i think the truck would have looked better with out all that added crap. Why add more after you have removed?Maybe a little section removed through the cab.

I'm a long bed fan, but for some reason, where you chopped the roof, and dropped the truck, it makes the bed and distance between the wheels look like they are 40 feet long. I expect to see a mast with a sail in the bed that folds up so you can sail it in the harbor lol.

LMAO....dont want it to look like a sailboat! The only reason I dont want to fix it up nice is around here nice ones dont bring the kind of money it would take to build it. I would be ahead to buy one already built. I saw a 1970 with a gorgeous black paint and realistic flame job, lowered, airbagged, custom interior, custom wheels, flawless truck with a well built 383 stroker with a 671 blower on it and the guy cant get $10,000 for it. That is just sickening. I just thought it would be cool to make it unique. I really dont know what to do with it yet.

I would just drop it and put some cool wheels on it. These trucks arent meant to be chopped and fenderless. And cant be a rat rod (dont know why anyone would want a rat rod anyways)

Lol. Well, you might be looking at it all wrong. Instead of viewing it like your 401(k) statement, just get the truck for your use and enjoyment, with a long term view of having the truck forever

Re: Sketch of what I am thinking of doing to my truck.....

I like the concept...definately different, but I agree with the belief that the longbed looks a bit out of place in combination with the chopped roof.Something proportional about it seems to be just "not right".I like longbeds..(I own one myself)..I'm being a little biased here, but me thinks you need a 292 to power it. (heh-heh).Whatever you decide to do,remember that it's your design,so YOU gotta like it.I'm just sayin'....

Re: Sketch of what I am thinking of doing to my truck.....

Are you building the truck for you, or are you building it to flip? Hardly anywhere will show a return investment on a restored vehicle. Honestly if I had the choice to purchase a c10 rat rod or something older that fits the style better, I'd choose the latter. It just depends on what's more important to you, the money it will bring later or the enjoyment it will bring you now.

Why not chop the top............................OFF? Mights as well make 'er a roadster. I like the idea of minimal wheelbase, too, for that t-bucket vibe. I'd keep the bed but as short as ever possible...like a t-bucket
