Anyone hone a 71 spindle upper to use a 73-87 upper ball joint
I'm wanting to install a taller upper ball joint on my 71 with all 71 parts. I'm don't want to change spindles and tie rods so I'm wondering if anyone has enlarged the taper on the spindle for the newer ball joint. If so can you give me as much info as you have. What sizes where to find the reamer etc. thanks guys

Oh yeah sorry. I'm wanting to use the 73-87 upper ball joint because I can't find a tall 71-72 upper ball joint

Where are you finding these "taller" balljoints?

And I guess they don't make a 71-72 upper balljoint?

Exactly. I haven't been able to find a manufacturer of a tall/long upper ball joint for the 71-72. Not sure which one is the proper name.

Would a spacer work?
Since the upper ball joint bolts on.

Hmm I'm not sure. Do you mean add a spacer between the spindle and ball joint? I don't really know the difference in the two ball joints but I'm assuming the 73 up uses a larger taper.

I was incorrect in my thinking.
I assume you are doing this to help with caster and camber, for better handling? Like the F-body guys running taller spindles.

Yeah exactly I am looking at them for camber caster. Also I have read a little on camber gain and hoping for a little improvement there. As the rear end is getting better its starting to understeer and plow the front a bit on the really tough corners.
