Lost my Nuts!
So my ACCUAIR VU4 valves have been in service for about 10 days mounted under the bed and they have lost 3 nuts.
So do these have a torque spec? Anyone know the thread? What do these nuts do? Anyone else have this problem? Posted via Mobile Device Should I go back where I bought them or who made them. Thanks Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Lost my Nuts!
I would just take one off and head to lowes and get them there. Or replace em all if you want them to all match. They have a little thread size chart you can screw the nut on to find the right thread pattern and size

Re: Lost my Nuts!
I didn't put the nuts on! I wrongly assumed they were tight from the factory as the unit was "factory tested"
I have no idea how tight to tighten them. Last thing I need is one of the valves to fail and them say its my fault for over-tightening them. I will apply 3M weather trim adhesive to the nuts after I find out how tight they need to be. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Lost my Nuts!
I would use loctite instead of trim adhesive.
Call the company first, kind of crazy they came off like that. Find out what the torque specs are, and have them send you a few new nuts.

Yep, I'd call accuair.
Since it was pre assembled. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Lost my Nuts!
Totally helpful comment, but better directed to accuair and not the OP.
I found a breakdown here: http://www.airsociety.net/forums/sho...rt-Your-VU-4** Still doesn't give you a torque, but gives you a better idea of what's behind those nuts. Putting loctite on the threads will only show accuair they've been removed so I wouldn't stress the warrenty too much. Snug should be fine if you're using the loctite. If the valves were working without the nuts, I can't imagine the torque being that great. |

Let us know what you find out as I'd be interested to see what they say.
