Re: awesome lower door problem.
Looks like your going to have to do some body work on the inside door panel.
Use a saw and cut an access hole near the problem area. Make it straight and clean as you will be welding it back in. |

Re: awesome lower door problem.
This is not an unusual problem with TFs. You will have to replace the lower hinge mounts. You can drill the spotwelds from the outside and replace them without cutting the doors.

I can't remember who and am not ambitious enough tonight to search, but I remember someone replaceing those in their build thread. Does not harm the outside metal.

Re: awesome lower door problem.
I thought about spending the extra to buy new for mine. A friend of mine had bought new for his and ended up having to spend alot of time reworking the new doors to fit his cab. So i just fixed all the little problems with my original doors and saved some bucks. Just take your time and you can fix it (its just metal)

Re: awesome lower door problem.
I don't recall where i ordered the parts from, but I replaced both lower hinge mounts on mine. As Russel Ashley said you can replace them by drilling out the spot welds and weld new one in place.

I couldn't remember who it was that did it but I remembered that it was a blue truck, LOL. I didn't think it was possible until you did it. I replaced mine but had the bottoms off of the doors at the time.

Hello Dirtracer. I was able to save mine with a little work. Drill a couple of 1/8 holes beween the spot welds to use as location guides. Use small screws to hold it together while you reweld the holes. If you can use a spot weld drill just go through the inner skin only.

dirtracer, Yes you can order them. Classic Parts of America has them in the patch panel section. They have alway been good to work with.

Re: awesome lower door problem.
Hey dirtracer, Look at Classic Parts again. The part I thought you needed was a door part. Lower door hinge bracket. The cab corners go on the cab. They have both. Good luck. Hope you can find what you need.
