Question kick panel speakers ?

I've read the threads on board members experience with these, but I haven't seen anyone post a PIC on how they look installed and what type of speaker they ended up using that wasn't too deep ( since the common complaint is they're shallow ).

Any other idea on how to mount 6 1/2" speakers onto the kick panels / doors without cutting sheet metal?

I want to install a set of 6 1/2's with seperate tweeters in my Suburban, but don't what to cut a hole in my doors.

Thnks

Ev

another member of this board has a set of component speakers mounted in the door panels. Instead of cutting the door, he just cut holes in the door panels and mounted them there.

like wood boxes sticking out of the door?, I cut holes in my doors, now before you all get mad, there were already holes in my doors for 5/14 speakers and I simply made them bigger for 6.5's so my kenwood components would fit

Good questions and suggestions. Anybody else have experience with speaker placement in kick panel/ doors without cutting/drilling holes? I would be really interested in finding some snap-on panels that would allow installation of decent speakers without mutilating the original panels.

I personally won't be cutting holes in my doors...but I think finding a way to put them in the door panels is better than in the door shell...but how about another area like under the seat...someone on here actually made a "skirt" out of wood that held to 6x9's at bottom of the pass and driver seats...looked clean enough...just a thought...

speaker placement

I know you have a Burb so this won't help you much. These are 6.5" Rockford Fosgates mounted in the cab corners. Before I painted the truck, I welded braces to mount them to. The entire interior, back wall, floor, firewall and doors were covered in dynamat. There is a website that may be able to help you with your dilemma. It's called roddoors. I will provide a link for you. They have some awesome "A" piller covers that fit our trucks and the have provisions to mount tweeters. I think they have other things available too. http://www.roddoors.com/Default.htm

Good luck to you....Greg

We carry the molded kick panel speakers in our on line catolog. Here is the link:
http://www.classicheartbeat.com/stereos2.htm
You can purchase them without speakers and install your own 6 1/2" or purchase them with 80 or 120 watt speakers already installed.

I am going to be using them in my panel project, but as of yet I haven't installed them. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

I have kickpanel speaker pods in my truck, with two Sony xplod 6.5" round speakers, and the direct fit Kennwood speakers under the dash. The system dosen't sound that great......i think the kickpanel speakers are highly overpriced. If i were to do it again i would have just sliced the doors and put in 2 good quality 6x9's, or a set of componets. Also, if you do get them, get them w/o speakers, or buy the set with upgraded speakers. I bought the set with the low-quality Custom Autosound speakers and they absolutley sucked....no bass at all and they sounded like crap. When i had a cheap "rampage" tape player hooked up, they sounded OK. When i installed a 200 watt CD player, they sounded really crappy.

I have the kick panels, with some pioneer 6 1/2's that I installed in them. I carpeted mine though. I also padded the backside of it so it doesn't rattle.
