GM steering pump question

Long winded ? I know , sorry

As I work on my PS install since I got the right brackets the one question I have is about pumps.

I know the pumps are a little different with the bracket mounting holes on the front under the pulley making the reservoir lean different ways to stand straight when mounted on different motors .

What I was wondering is the reservoirs all mount the same? I picked up 2 pumps from the junk yard off V8s for the single and double pulleys . One pump was right for the mounting holes for the 6 cly brackets but both the reservoirs the return hose fitting loops down toward the bottom hitting the bracket.

The right rebuilt pump with reservoir is out of stock all over but looking at other GM pumps the hoses come out all over the place .

Are all the "canned ham" reservoirs the same and able to mount to the different pump guts ?
That way I can go shopping at the "yard" and just grab a unit with the right return line clearance and pop in the correct rebuilt pump and pulley

Thanks

Todd

I did this and rockauto and autozone are the only ones with a listing with the reservoir but its "out of stock" from their suppler at the moment with no ETA . I can get just the pump all day long though , thats why I was wondering about the using one of other GM reservoirs for the swap

The part # is AC Delco 36-517026
A P10 is a forward control 108" wheel base chassis built by GM for step vans .Union City built the StepVan for Chevy and the Value Delivery Van for GMC in both steel and aluminum bodys
They are also a big mix of parts GM used in the late 60s and all of the 70s truck and van parts .
Its a orphan so I have to go between here and the 67 to 72 section

Heres a crappy photoshop pix of what it looks like now at the moment, from last fall before I painted over the bright red bumpers ,rub rails and 5 inch strip along the top

Re: GM steering pump question

Yes the reservoirs will swap. Take out the valve and the studs or bolts from the back of the reservoir and a light tap with a deadblow will pop it off. A seal kit from the FLAPS will put you back in business. Just lube the seals first. Jay
