Steering Column Problem
I went to the Portland Swap Meet last weekend and got what i thought was a great deal on a steering column. IT was painted black, all new parts, switches, handles, tilt, and a reasonable price. I took it back to the shop and went to install it and it was 2 3/4" Short. The guy I bought it from said it was for a 72 Blazer but it obviously is not. Does anyone know if the trucks had a different steering column length (shorter) than the Blazers? I cant sell this thing back to him as the swap meet is now over so I am trying to figure out what it goes to and sell it online. Thanks for the help!

Re: Steering Column Problem
That was my first thought too. I'm hoping someone else knows for sure.

Re: Steering Column Problem
i always shorten my columes and move them closer to the dash. you may have to move the neutral safty switch, but it's not hard and i like all the room i can get in these tiny little cabs

Re: Steering Column Problem
Do you have a thread on how to move the neutral safety switch? Can you show me pictures of how you did it. I didnt even think it was possible, but if it is i will give it a shot.

Re: Steering Column Problem
Did they have a few new columns and a whole lot of seats? I was there too and talked to a guy for a while in a larger tent in the Expo parking lot. His buddy had a bunch of un-restored columns on the other side of the tent.
