Your bumper was not a factory option. It may possibly have been an accessory. But very likely was dealer installed. The factory bumpers were the standard (sport) or a step bumper. They were similar to the stepside bumper shown but fleetsides (widesides) were different. Overall there are a large number of step bumper styles that are period for your truck. Find something you like and use the receiver to actually pull anything heavy.

i love those bumpers SNJ8198 !! where did you get them?? and thats what i meant SS TIM. that they were an option and not from something else later on.i like it a lil more now that ik the reason for the design, for the original factor

A buddy and I built them. I had stock chromed bumpers prior but the truck was rear ended by a drunk driver in the same spot as in the pic. So i cut off the damage to the bed and bumper and built these. Let's see her try that again.
