With the great fuel milleage my rig gets pulling a trailer the stock tank just doesn't get me far enough. I get sick of stopping for gas all the time.
Any sugestions for auxilarry tanks or a tank I could put in the bed?
Guess I could pull a saddle tank off a grain truck and set it in the bed for longer trips. Run off the saddle tank till it goes dry then quickly flip the selector and run on the factory tank with guage until I find a station.

Maybe I am crazy though.

Nope you're not crazy. Check on a Blazer tank between the rails. Best deal is at the Truck Shop www.truckandcarshop.com You can get tank, straps and sender delivered for around $200 depending on where you live. Look for "Blazer tank" in the archives--plenty of info there

some of these truck came with saddle tanks that bolted outside the frame rail behind the cab i have two of them one on each side about 60 gallon capacity total but i only use the one in the cab

I have considered the blazer tank option. The thing I don't like about it (besides the expense) is that I will be adding more weight behind the wheels.
I am pulling a bumper hitch trailer with my jeep on it. That already squats the back of the truck down some.

Couple hundred more pounds probably wont make that huge of a diff though I suppose.

I use the saddle tanks and have it set up where the gauge reads whichever tank i'm using at the time, flip of a switch and that's it....

You could build something similar to Yukon Jack's setup and stick the tank in the front of your bed. I don't know how much you value your bed space; make it to size depending on how much extra fuel you want to carry.
Just remember that:
1 gal = 231 cubic inches

It should hold about 38-40 gallons. It has a sending unit and is baffled.
