having a hard time deciding on 33" or 35" tires
i don't know whether to get a 2-3" lift and 33's or a 4" and 35's I don't want to go 6" of lift and a 4" with 33's is too much for my taste.
any thoughts on the 2-3" and 33's or the 4" and 35"? If i knew of a small running 35" tire that i could run without having to cut my fenders i may be more inclined to do 35's |

What do you plan to do with the truck? Wheeling with 33s can be done, but better with 35s. You can clear 35s with a 4", but need a wheel that tucks in, like a stock rally or similar. If it's just a driver, then 2-3" with 33s on rally's looks sweet IMO...

well i like whatever i go with to be on 10" wide wheels just for that beefy look. truck will do some light offroading nothing extreme at all mainly for views etc and just weekend trail fun dirt road kinda deals.
one other thing that bothers me is 35" tires on the stock 10 bolts..is that a concern really or no? my z71 had a 14 bolt. |

I'm not sure if a 35" tire on a 10" wide wheel will fit without rubbing on a 4" lift. I had a truck with 6" and rubbed.
My truck has the stock 10 bolt front and I run 38" boggers. But, the first time I took it out i tore the ears on the front stub shaft....But, I think it was going anyways, and heavy tires, 4-speed and bouncing sure didn't help any.

I have a 3” on my Suburban. When I first installed it, I went with 33’s. Looked good, wheeled fine, but when those wore out, I went with 35’s. Couldn’t pull into a freaking Jack In The Box without having to trim the fenders (which I hated to do), lost a lot of power with the stock gears, kind of a PITA for all the kids to get into, etc. When these 35’s wear out, I’m going back to 33’s (and replacing the trimmed fenders with some uncut units I have stashed away).
Mine is basically Mama’s grocery getter. It pulls our pop-up trailer and occasionally sees some light-to-moderate off-road duty. It did all the above just fine on 33’s. 35’s are more trouble than they are worth for a rig like mine. They look cool, but that’s about it. 33’s 35’s |

I have a 4" lift with 35's and they never rubbed. But i got them at quarter tread they're courser ct's. i also have an 8" wheel with 0 offset

The 86 in my avatar is 4" susp 3" body with 35s on 10" rims. The front fenders were trimmed to clear the tires. I had an 87 with 6" on 35s &. 10" rims,they would rub if I got rough with it. That was with tires that had 30% tread left.

Yeah, it's a Tuff Country 3", and no, they don't clear 35's. I thought they might, but the first time I drove it, I destroyed the fenders pulling into a steep driveway, so I trimmed the lower corners (by the door), but I still rub the front corners (by the bumper) in some situations.
If I was going to stay w/ 35's, I'd lift it another inch at least. |

What gears do you have? If you go with 35s it very probable that your going to need a gear change or suffer lack of power, Factor that in your decision.

I clear 36X13.50 irocs with only 5 inches of lift. 35's should be fine with 4 inches

Theres a difference in clearing tires on street and clearing them while offroading

I would opt for a 4 inch lift and 33's and forget about it.
Very few of these trucks are actually ever wheeled that much and when they are it is usually on flat ground going through a mud hole. |

On my old 1/2ton I ran 33s all day long on the 10/12 373 combo.. I then swapped to 35s and blew the rear in a week. The front followed shortly after.
On my new rig I am running 35s but swapped in a 60/14ff 4.56s and love it.. also have the option of going bigger in the future. I would stay with the 33s.

ok the above pics have made up my mind just gonna go with 33" tires. How do you like the tuff country 3" it ride good? did you replace your steering arm?
would you recommend the 3" for the 33" or a 2" looks like theres room plus some with the 3" and 33s thanks |
