Noob in San Diego
Howdy everyone. Finally talked the wife into a project truck. We got a 68 longbed now! The 327 was replaced with a 350, had a holley 650 double pumper, spicer 1 ton driveline, upgraded springs, and just surface rust here and there. Of course its not running cause the old guy said it cost too much for gas..so I have to get it breathing again. But hey, not bad for 250 bucks right? I'll post some pics soon. But I wanted to say hello. If anyone in the San Diego/East County area has any hookups or spare parts or whatnot. Give me a shout. Looking forward to a nice long project me and my boys can have fun with.

Cool...get it running, lose the white wagon wheel rims (maybe ralleys, there are 3 on the want ads right now), and drive the wheels off it. Have fun with it and build it as you go along. You'll get more looks and compliments than you'll believe!

Enjoy the patina for a while...that truck earned that look! Lower it a little and drive it! I'm a fan of Ralleys on these trucks, even though they never came with them.

Good score! Too bad the 327 was replaced, but you still have a great truck . Get it running and drive the wheels off it!

Hey,
Just do a search on here for 'anniversary truck' and I'm sure you'll find out all you need to know...and what the SPID should be. It would be cool if it is! Chris |

Re: Noob in San Diego
I dont think it is. Here is the tag from the jockeybox, and I don't see the gold/Ivory listing that everyone talks about.

Welcome. Nice project you got there. I'm just down the road from you in Santee. I'm working on my own resto project and have a few parts I have no use for anymore. Just PM me.

Re: Noob in San Diego
Good news. I've started to dig in to the truck..and upon checking the block casting, I got a pleasant suprise. It's a 71 SS motor! The suffix says its A, F, or X body. 270 hp 4 barrel for auto tranny. The old guy I bought it from says it was fast...and he used to suprise corvettes...now I know why. Not a bad plsce to start
