Has anyone ever thought about.......

coordinating a west coast trip with a flat bed gooseneck trailer to search and bring back some rust free truck beds for us guys in the rust belt? I search and find one, but to ship or drive out for one is super expensive just for one. Thinking if we could get a few interested and share expense of having them trucked back. Thoughts?

Re: Has anyone ever thought about.......

There are several dealers of southern metal here in Iowa. I have bought a couple beds from them through the years. My last bed on my truck came from Arkansas a guy from down there was coming up here to see family with an empty trailer. For the price he shot me deliver to my job I caould not say no.

Re: Has anyone ever thought about.......

The last time I checked, it was only about $800 from AZ to MI. Why not buy a whole truck and sell the parts you don't need to cover the shipping cost? Or better yet, buy a whole truck and keep it - sell the parts you don't need on your current truck.

Here in SoCal, these trucks are a dime a dozen. Lots of parts floating around.

Re: Has anyone ever thought about.......

I'm thinking about a future run to the east. I would drive one of my square body trucks pulling a 30' travel trailer frame full of short beds and sheet metal. I would sell the parts and the truck, scrap the trailer, and fly back home. Or drive a truck towbarring a truck behind it (both full of parts) and sell both and fly back home.
