Rear control arms; aftermarket vs. GM
Hey guys, I need opinions on this one. Im in the process of a restore on my 71 C10. I need new rear arms, as there is more of mine missing than is there!! I've found some factory ones from a 60-66 on ebay, which I've heard will work. I've also seen the new replacements in LMC and a few others. What is my best bet, new aftermarket or old factory?

New is always better. LMC, CPP there are several compainies who build them.

I guess it all depends on what you want and what you are doing with you truck, and how much your willing to spend. Short of full blown racing or off roading the stock arms can handle just about any thing you can throw at them.

I would get a used set of 67-72 and have them blasted then paint them. That is a lot of coin to spend for aftermarket when those funds can go for something else.

I'd go with a nice set of OEMs. IIRC the 3/4 ton OEM trailing arms have a reinforcement plate welded to them.

I went with a set of ECE trailing arms when they were on sale and are amazing! The quality is top notch and the guys over there were great with answering all my questions.

I do like the looks of the ECE one's. They price on them isn't as bad as LMC, and they include a bunch of hardware. I guess unless I can find some nice factory ones, I may have to go the ECE route. Nothing about any of the aftermarket ones are cheap though!! Thanks guys!

I to have the ECE set, with the BB up front and Detroit Locker in the rear it made it stronger and a bit stiffer for sway. I have Lots of ECE stuff on my Truck i.e. springs, shock relocate’s, Center support and trailing arms and its ALL Nice Top Quality stuff
