Did trucks w\o radios have fenders w\o antennae holes or did they have a special plug . I'd like to ditch my fugly old antennae but don't really want to change fenders . If a plug is made anybody got one ? Thanks , George

The truck antennas came installed onto the cowls and although I have seen cowls with no holes, I have never seen a plug in the hole where there was one.
If you have a fender mounted antenna, then someone must have installed it. Jim |

The factory location for the antenna was in the cowl, not the fender. Trucks without radios came with a "hole-less" cowl. There was no delete plug.

To change cowl you need to pull your wiper arms off, a phillips screwdriver and a half inch socket. Takes less time to remove than to clean out all the crap under it!
If you do change, try putting some screen under the slots to keep the leaves out. I am sure someone on here has pics of this.

Forgot about wiper arms. It's a pressure fit over a splined shaft. If they've been on there for a while you may have to use a little force to get them to budge.

I pulled my cowl and A freind of mine welded A flush patch (shaved). I am in the process of working each panel one at A time and then primer. Pulling the cowl is A piece of cake.

I did some pre-paint finish work on a cowl that Stllookn had worked on. He welded a patch into the antennae hole and it looked great. He has indicated he is willing to do the same thing to my cowl.

the antenna hole around my antenna has rusted out. I was looking at getting a new cowl and new antenna assembly. I was think though, what about the shaved cowls, that would look cool, but where could i mount a new antenna? Has anybody used different antennas on the trucks or mounted them in different places. Please post pictures.
thanks

I have my antenna shaved. I did what a few guys recomended and stripped the antenna wire and then ran it back under the cowl. It works great. How can you deny how cool this looks!

No, not that I know of. I do live close to all of the radio stations I listen to though. I would imagine if you live out a ways that you would need to get a booster or something. Here's my original thread about this same thing. http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...shaved+antenna
