Drop over huge tires?
OK, let me say up front that I realize this is a ridiculous question, however, it seems that in the search to do something different, people do the ridiculous.
That said, has anyone slammed a 67-72 C10 on big tires? I'm thinking something like a 31x10.5. This is counter-intuitive, as you're actively taking the truck in two opposite directions at this point, but I also kind of feel that with people laying rocker over 22" rims, surely a tire like this could be made to work with a 4/6 drop. Are there any pictures out there of this ridiculousness? PS, this is what inspired this question: |

Re: Drop over huge tires?
I know Porterbuilt and a few others talk about a 28"-32" tall tire when looking at drop height. A 31" tire should be fine.
Your image is broken, btw.

Re: Drop over huge tires?
Huge tires on a static drop will be an issue.
Most bagged guys just air up to drive. You won't have that option. Narrowed a-arms, positive offset wheels, or a Dropmember will get you closer to steering the wheels "inside" the fenders, as opposed to thru the wheel opening. Your inner fenders will have to go also. I conside a 28" tire the max tire height for a 4/6 drop. 27" tall works better.

Re: Drop over huge tires?
that's where I figured "the rub" would be, and I kind of anticipated the inner fender issue.

Re: Drop over huge tires?
Fenderless is the way to go for sure, then.

Re: Drop over huge tires?
I don't understand the point of trying to be low with massive tires. Anything bigger than a 20" rim on the front of our trucks looks out of proportion IMHO. 27" or 28" tire max looks good on the front.

Re: Drop over huge tires?
This is my truck, 235/75/15 ~ 28" tall tire. wheels are 15x8 with 4-4.5" of back spacing, I rub when turning all the way (before rolling fenders). I just recently rolled my fenders which gave me a lot more clearance.
