Re: Steering gear boxes

The truck boxes mount on the opposite side of the frame. A guy could probably take the guts out & put them in a truck case.

Re: Steering gear boxes

Oh so the bolt up inside the rail??? That's why I didn't find any info on it.
Thanks

Changing the guts would work right? Has anyone tried that? So if you could find a good used one from a 76 Camaro a $30 rebuild kit and some time and you can build a close ratio steering box 12.7:1?

Re: Steering gear boxes

I swapped the Camaro internals into a truck housing years ago, pretty easy swap, follow the manual though.

Re: Steering gear boxes

How did it work? was it the close ratio style from a 76? Does our trucks have the 13/16" or 3/4" spline shaft?

Write a check for $299.00, send it here: Early Classic Enterprises. They will send you a quick ratio box made to fit your truck and if you send them your existing steering box in the same carton they will give you a $75.00 core charge refund. Then you don't have to worry about shaft sizes and spline counts.
