Can understand waiting to get a deal on paper or CD versions but you can download the service and overhaul information now to help piece things together in you mind. Go back to post #18 where I put a link for you.

Re: putting it ALL back together

The service manual fails downloading and the over haul manual does not show the things that I am looking for.

Any other ideas?

thanks

Re: putting it ALL back together

Keep trying on the downloads. If you are only trying for 70 maybe 69 will work. You might also try 72s to get a feel for the factory disc installation. How is the manual failing in download and did you post the issue on the download thread? There is a factory parts manual I have posted a link to but the manual itself can be confusing as many of the illustrations are older models. Its 125MB too.

Also there were several running variations in front supension parts. Might want to review the change over process to discs and determine what you have for spindles and ball joints.

Re: putting it ALL back together

I have not reported it, It just says loading.... and then retry.
All of the other downloads seem to be ok.

I have tried:
ST_133_67_1967_Chevrolet_Chassis_Service_Manual_10_to_60_Truck.pdf
ST_133_68_1968_Chevrolet_Chassis_Service_Manual_10_to_60_Truck.pdf
ST_133_70_1970_Chevrolet_Chassis_Service_Manual_10_to_60_Truck.pdf

same results. Ill report in download thread.

Re: putting it ALL back together

Looking back through the pictures it looks like the motor is actually in the forward (V-8) mounting holes. Anyone agree? Think this will be an issue?

Re: putting it ALL back together

Is there an idle arm on both the passenger and drivers side?

Re: putting it ALL back together

No the pitman arn extends from the steering box and the idler arm is on the opposite side of the frame to mimic the pitman arm. This keeps the centerlink parallel to the crossmember though not an equal distance. The inner tie rod ends connect to the centerlink and the outer tie rod ends connect to the steering arms at the spindles.

Service manual speak version from 72

"GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The steering gear used on all truck models is of the
recirculating ball type and the service procedures are
basically the same for all units.
Two types of steering linkages are used. C-P10-20-30
series units have an adjustable tie rod connected to the
steering arm at each wheel. Steering effort is transmitted
to the tie rods through a relay rod connected to the
pitman arm on the left and an idler arm on the right.
K10-20 models use a single adjustable tie rod, connecting
the left and right steering arms. Steering effort is relayed
to the left steering arm, from the pitman arm, by a
non-adjustable connecting rod."

Have you been able to download any manuals? From the sounds of things you might want to find a basic primer on chassis, suspensions and brakes. Maybe the Hot Rod series. Please understand I am trying to help with your project and think even more now that having some of the local members pop in will really help.

Re: putting it ALL back together

I do appreciate the help.
I have not been able to view the chassis service manual.

I will picking up a manual asap.

I have just learned last night, that my truck may possibly be a long bed (which I should of known/asked when I bought it), the bed is missing is why I didnt know.

Also is there a way to know if the frame is C10 or C20? are there differences?
front end and rear end have already been converted to 5 lug

thanks

Re: putting it ALL back together

The frame section and modulus numbers. Note the increased section height, flange width and thickness changes of the frame as the series step up.

C10 Blazer
C10 115" wb
C10 127" wb 6.04" height 2.53" flange width 0.156" thick 2.98 section modulus

C20 127" wb 6.11" height 2.46" flange width 0.194" thick 3.71 section modulus

Do you think it would be a good idea to trailer my truck over to an event like this and meet everybody?

Re: putting it ALL back together

While you could trailer your truck there I am not sure it woulld be a lot of help. While you will get information it could be more like drinking from a firehose.
My thinking was to offer to host a few people at your place for a grill up, so they can take a look at what you have as far as truck and parts and what is likely missing. Keep it low key and informal. We do this when we are going to have a project plane inspected so everyone has a chace to look before the inspector. This helps us pass clean and more important it makes it safer just having a lot of experienced eyes looking and poking about.
But by all means go to the show, take pictures and ask questions!
