Trans/drive shaft question

Getting ready to start my T5 swap this weekend. I have gathered all the parts. I'm mustering up the courage, but have one important question. I have not yet pulled the old transmission, a stock 3 speed/column shift. Does anyone know how many splines are on the output shaft? I'm obviously going to have to have the drive shaft cut down. I want to have all the parts ready so I don't have to go hunting for the right yoke at the last minute.... I will use the old one if it will work, but will have to figure out a solution if it's not going to work.

Thanks in advance,

JJ

Re: Trans/drive shaft question

I'm not shure of the count but it will be different. You need a 68 up yoke. Practically any one will work except one from a TH400. You will need to get the trans. in to measure the drive shaft length.

Lots of good info here, in case you hadn't seen it yet:

Is this the method you're going with or the adapter plate method?

I am going to use an 85 Camaro 5 speed. I currently have an 84 305 SBC in it and this one should bolt right in - haha! I have swapped in a set of leather Cadillac buckets, do I won't need to swap the tailhousing to the s10. Actually, I had already swapped to an s10 tailhousing and had to swap it back. Anyway, the Camaro trans has a mechanical speedo drive, which will make life easier. Just gotta figure out how to find a new yoke.

Re: Trans/drive shaft question

I used a 92 V8 Camaro T5 in my Nova and used a TH350 yoke, it fit right in. This one had the electronic speedo but it used gears to spin the electronic sensor. BTW a speedo bullit from a TH350 fits perfectly in the hole so I could hook a cable to it.
