another k5 in the stable

Just picked up a 1970 K5 from southwest Missouri, had been on craigslist for awhile. I was surprised that it has great torsion boxes, straight rust free bed sides, fenders and doors. Has some rust through on the outer rockers and floor boards. I plan on selling my 72 and driving this one as is after cleaning her out (nice curtains) and swapping interior. Has a v8 (needs a freeze plug) with 3 on the tree. This is one plain jane blazer. Ill picture the spid but only options are basically a pass seat, ammeter gauge, white top and some other minute things, even has a radio block off. Was sold new in Springfield, Mo where she spent all of her life. I dont think the engine is original though, trying to decode it as we speak. Any clues as to what engine these were born with if it isnt specified on the spid?

Does it have a transfer case other than the np205? Looks like a different shifter.

Re: another k5 in the stable

Ill have to crawl under to look. I noticed it has a different boot and ring around it as well. Man is she tough to steer w/o powersteering. Ill have to rob that and power brakes off one of my parts k5s.

Re: another k5 in the stable

Yeah that's one of the things I noticed about it. Seems like everytime i've seen that shorter shifter and trim ring like that it was on a lower optioned one, but that could just be coincidence. For some reason I think it might be the np203 with that look, but I'm not sure if our blazers came with that or not.

I've never seen a blazer without power steeing or power brakes in person! Seen people on here with them on the earlier ones. Anyone know if they had them without on the 71/72s?

Re: another k5 in the stable

That would be a Dana 20 t-case. My 1970 K5 has one in it. Currently cleaning up a NP 205 to replace it. Nothing really wrong with the Dana 20 though.

Re: another k5 in the stable

So was the Dana 20 and NP 205 all that was used from 69-72? I guess it's all I recall seeing.

Found it in Everton on craigslist. It had been listed for awhile. I was set to go to West Virginia but that guy backed out.

Re: another k5 in the stable

Also interesting to see utility buckets with the same pattern of vinyl as the CST trucks...

First time I have witnessed that.

Re: another k5 in the stable

I have a 70 K5 that has the utility frt seats and I need the rt seat tilt hinges & frt seat brkts. Are you going to use yours or will you change out your seats? I would be interested in buying the brkts.

Re: another k5 in the stable

Havent fully decided yet. At first I was gonna and just swap it with a full cst set I have but now Im leaning towards just adding the back seat. Is the hardware different that the reg pass bucket. I know 69/70 brackets are different as the pull out is on the side but didnt know there was a difference between utility and regular. I just sold a set of hardware not too long ago. Guy on the site had utlity buckets for sale that he was gonna end up throwing away, maybe he has the brackets.

This makes me really miss my old 71 Jimmy, it looked just like yours. I regret selling that thing everyday.
