c-50 rims

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1365982312 So a few ?'s for you guy's. I need confirmation that these are not the dangerous rims. The rear say 8.5x20. I thought a while back i read that the stock 20 inch wheels were hard to find, but i cant remember if that was for the c-30's or c-50's. Also im not trying to sell here, but im thinking about parting this c-50 and just curious if these would be worth anything

Re: c-50 rims

I wouldn't be too quick to throw them out, in my opinion, but they are your wheels. I saw your post, but didn't reply as wheels aren't one of my strong points and there are others online who know a lot more about them than I do. We actually have a wheel expert over at Stovebolt.com. If you go over there, click onto BigBolts.

I don't think those rear wheels are the bad kind. The front is suspicious. Here is a link to the best info I have seen on the subject:

So this is the c-30 im picking up this weekend, I have lots of things planned especially getting rid of the poop brown paint haha. I think i read you can't switch rims on these im not sure what thats all about. I've got to get some pretty polished rims. Also thanks for your help with the c-50 rims I'm think i will part that out to help fund my c-30. I hope you all dont mind lots of ?'s im am new to the bigger trucks. Thanks so far, oldno7

Re: c-50 rims

I believe what you are referring to with not being able to swap out the rims is that your truck has 1/2" studs. You should be able to swap them out for 9/16 ones for a later (71 or 72). I would look online for a Dorman catalog. It gives you all the dimensions. Also check the studs for 73 and up. Truck would look good with the aluminum wheels.

Griggs rocks. I'd like to hang out with that guy for a few days to absorb some knowledge.

The center photo of the 5 lug wheel is the notorious " split rim wheel " not the better design "lock ring wheel". The split rim is 2 pieces and connected in the middle and has no longer been manufactured since the mid 70's.Thats the one that should be junked. "lock ring wheels" are still used today on some larger construction type vehicles and heavy duty truck tire dealers still work on them.
