CHarcoal Canister
Since this is a great place where others share information freely and do not laugh at stupid questions (or at least I don't know about it). Here is one for ya!
What exactly is the charcoal cansiter for? What do the vacume lines do for it. If you bought a truck from someone and it has sat for 2 years, would something need to be done to it now? Anything else you would like to share aboutthis subjest. Thanks

This is a no maintnance part for 99% or the time. (No idea what needs to be done to it either)
The charcol absorbs the fumes given off by the fuel, and then the vqacume lines suck the fumes into the engine where they are burned instead of vented into the atmosphere. Other than taking up a little bit of vacume, there are no draw backs to the systewm...one of the 'good' emissions items like the PCV valve. |
