A few years ago I bought a '75 gmc 1/2 ton longbox fleetside that has a wood floor. I had never seen this in a '73-up fleetside before. A lot of people say someone must have converted it to wood based on their experience of never seeing one before either. I believe it to be original. It looks original. A friend now owns the truck. His dad has been a bodyman for years & was surprised too. We have all made it a point to bring this truck's bed up in discussion with anyone & everyone. So far, NOBODY has ever seen one or can verify they existed.

Anyone know the scoop? was it an option?

Hi ,

yes i seen many wood box on 73 to 87

i have 76 box with wood.. also 74 box with wood too..

also rare one 82 has wood floor but most wood come in 73 to 80

My uncle has a 77 Long Fleetside with a wood-floor box. My other uncle ordered it new and it has always been in our family so I know it's factory. It originally had southern yellow pine boards painted body color. This option was only available in long fleetside beds, not short beds. Of course all stepsides had wood floors.

Anyone know where to get a set of plans cut new boards from?
