CPP proportioning valve fitting

I ran into a snag with this CPP power disc brake kit for my 56. The fitting on the proportioning valve that goes to the rear brakes seems to be a bastard size. Does anyone know exactly what I would need to couple it to the 3/16" brake line?

Re: CPP proportioning valve fitting

Is this a Chrysler style master cyl. If it is go to a junk yard look at a Chrysler van and get the fitting that you need.

This is the kit I bought. It doesn't really show the valve though

Re: CPP proportioning valve fitting

This is what I'm looking for, something to couple from the valve to the brake line

Thumbs up Re: CPP proportioning valve fitting

If you have a NAPA auto parts store they carry an adapter line which you can either use a brake line coupling to assemble it or cut and reflare using their fitting. I dont remember the part number of the line but my local NAPA store carries it. I hope this helps.

I bought the same booster kit. Found fitting at Autozone. Make sure to use residial valves also. They have had problems with the ones built into proportioning valves. Ask me how i know!

Re: CPP proportioning valve fitting

Upon installing the same booster on my 55 2nd series I went to bleed the brakes and fliud gushed from the fitting that screws into the valve body, not the brake line. I fought with CPP for nearly 6 weeks getting it taken care of !! Finally CPPJEFF got it taken care of for me.

Re: CPP proportioning valve fitting

have you tried to screw a 1/4 fitting in there?
they make a nut to attach a 3/16 line into just about anything

Re: CPP proportioning valve fitting

We don't have the big parts stores here, mostly a bunch of dumbass kids behind the parts counter that are afraid to look in a damn book. I did however get a couple fittings from one shop locally that I'm going to try

Re: CPP proportioning valve fitting

Well we have Autozone ,Advanced Auto, and O'Reileys . But when I need good quality brand name parts I go to the local parts stores that I have used for the last 30 years. We have an independent store in the local area that the owner himself loves old cars and he works very hard to help out if you need something.

Re: CPP proportioning valve fitting

well, the fitting I got from the last hope local guy was a bust, it doesn't seat at all. I haven't heard anything back from Jeff, but I know he must be a busy man. Does anyone have any idea what fitting to use? I'd like to get these brakes done so I can bleed the system and make sure everything works and doesn't leak.

Re: CPP proportioning valve fitting

Not knowing anything about the CCP setup I will toss this out: Why not just use a standard GM proportioning valve that uses standard fittings? I am assuming they are using a GM MC for either disc/drum or disc/disc? Any GM 70's valve will work for the first and I think they use Corvette MC for the latter?? Just a thought.

Re: CPP proportioning valve fitting

I got mine from auto zone, the kid at counter took me to the fitting bin and I found it. I think it was called a 5/8 flare to 3/16 flare reducer (master cylinder adaptor) not exactly sure though as i had bought several different fittings for various things, take the proportioning valve with you, and borrow (while you are there) a small piece of 3/16 line to make sure it fits correctly.
Also, there is a small plastic tool that keeps the switch centered while you bleed the brakes. I also found the extra fitting (plug) was only hand tight, might want to double check that one also.
I haven't bled my system yet, but will hopefully do it this weekend before i fit my front end on.

Re: CPP proportioning valve fitting

Did anyone receive the plug cover/pigtail for the pressure switch along with their CPP kit or know of something that works to either use it or cover it? I hate to see that electrical connection just sitting there in the open...
