Will work but you will need a manifold to fit the vortec heads.

Yep it will and yes you will need a intake manifold that fits to Vortec heads. You may need to get some headers or exhaust manifolds for them to....

I thought Vortec heads came out in 95' or 96'.

70c10 is right....Vortec's were first used in '96.

If they are '90 model heads, they aren't vortecs. The intake is still different than the old style '55-'86 SBC though....you will need a special carb'd intake manifold for the '87-'95 heads. I *think* edelbrock makes one, if not if you search junkyards enough, some old Chevy cop cars had the late model heads, and a factory allumium 4-bbl intake. My friend had such an intake on a '76 C10 with a '89 305 in it.

BTW, you will also need centerbolt valve covers, and your current exhaust will bolt right up. You might need self-alliging rocker arms too, but i'm not sure completely on that

Thanks for the feedback. I was facing either rebuilding my heads or finding a newly rebuilt set. I sent mine to the machine shop today to get a new grind, guides and hardened seats!!

There is a guy on the 88-98 board selling a set of freshly rebuilt 1990 heads for $240 to your door. Thought it was a good price, but I already havce a new intake for our style heads..

Thanks again!!

you don't need self aligning rockers if you put guide plates in. the 2 center bolt holes are at a different angle then the old heads but all that takes to cure is a little creative grinding/drilling

don`t but those heads. the intake port necks down from stock size to really small. save your money and buy some vortec heads. should be able to find a set for around $175-$200. i think they are only about $450 per pair new. they are a great head.
