Caliper Backing Plates?

OK, need a caliper backing plate for a project. I have a D44HD axle from a 74ish 3/4 GM truck...they no longer make backing plates for this application (factory)...what is the difference in the backing plates from 74-77 and 77+ and is there a difference in the 1/2ton and 3/4 ton GM D44 front axle caliper backing plate...or even the 10-bolt caliper backing plate.

Can I use any of these on my 74 and not need to change a bunch of other stuff? Or are there specific differenced that would affect swapping one another??

I should have included that I am looking for a set of these...preferably the older style with the "tin" splash shield versus the newer "full circle" style.

Yeah, I believe they would be termed a half circle...if you remove the tin splash shield, then it looks like a big "C"


I should have added, I'm a dodge guy...converting over a drummed braked D44HD to GM disc brakes, which are by far better than the early attempts by dodge at the disc brakes for their trucks....the pin slides are better.

So take it easy on me if I don't know GM jargon!

lol, yea ive got some on my 86 so u should be able to get some off of any yea truck and they should work

Be sure to get the 3/4 ton plates. they are different than the 1/2 ton..
When I upgraded a 44 form 6 lug to 8 i had to change the backing plate.. couldn't use the 1/2ton plate..
And i'm not totally sure but I don't think you can use gm coporate 10 bolt backing plates

I think the 10-bolt stuff is identical to the D44 stuff from the knuckles out. So, from what I'm hearing, is the 3/4-ton stuff is different from 1/2-ton? What differences were there? Was there a different spacing, a different caliper placement??
