Has anyone even seen this?

I think it's an old aftermarket a/c unit?? It's in my C-20.

aftermarket. I've seen a few. I know there was a talk about it, if it was dealer installed once.

I also think that might be an aftermarket dealer-installed AC

Yep,
That there is a pretty common sight in Texas,
It is an add-on a/c unit, they were manufactured by a variety of companies (ARA, Four Season's and others)
I had one that was installed in a 1962 Impala and it worked a lot better that the Factory a/c units.
At Times It would even blow ice, but that was in the R-12 day's.
The unit needs to have the proper drain to allow condensation to exit the cab.
It is kind of a universal fit's all unit.
I do not know how they would work under the R134a condition

I just saw one yesterday. Can't remember ever seeing one before then. It doesn't look any worse than those old 8 track tape players.

The reason I said post a pic because I believe the compressor is not original to the unit installed. Had pretty nasty looking brackets if I remember correctly, Randy.

PS It's not raining now!

Dennis, I already have one, just wasn't sure what is was. I'm still fairly new at this and haven't seen one of those before. Are they worth anything? Since the truck runs, I need to see if this thing actually works.
